GRADUATION DAY 1968

Great news from Jerry Zahl on the results of our 50th reunion class scholarship fund raising!

“ It appears that the year end Walla Walla Public High Schools Scholarship Fund total has settled at $117,335.46.

Since Garth’s generous December Gift, five other gifts were received to add $1,119.62 to the fund. Also interesting is that I had been hoping for at least $119,620.00 by year end but a little market erosion clipped that short. This fund will probably pay around $4,000.00 for 2019-2020 school year financial assistance..

We are blessed A very good purpose is being served, Great appreciation and best wishes to all who have in many ways supported this worthy activity, since it was nothing but an idea.. Many Thanks, Jerry Z”

WHAT A REUNION IT WAS!  NEARLY 200 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE, WITH UNLIMITED SMILES AND LAUGHTER, RECALLING TIMES PAST.  AND A GREAT START TO THE CLASS OF 1968 SCHOLARSHIP FUND (SEE BELOW).

THE RECEPTION AT THE WINERY, THE TOUR OF THE HIGH SCHOOL BY THE CURRENT PRINCIPAL, AND THEN THE COUNTRY CLUB DINNER.  THE WINE, THE FOOD, THE COMPANY, THE MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED .  AND IT WAS GREAT TO SEE TEACHERS BILL BIELOH, DICK NEHER, AND RON AND JOYCE HUNTINGTON.

THANKS TO THE REUNION COMMITTEE FOR SUCH AN OUTSTANDING EVENT.
IT JUST FELT PLAIN GOOD TO BE AROUND CLASSMATES FROM THE CLASS OF 1968.  REAL AFFECTION WAS PALPABLE.

AND THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE REUNION COMMITTEE IS RE-CONVENING TO PLAN A 55TH REUNION.

WE HAVE ONE ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITY - TO SUPPORT THE WA-HI SCHOLARSHIP FUND.  REMEMBER THIS IS A 2:1 MATCHING EFFORT SO THAT FOR EVERY DOLLAR ONE OF US DONATES, A BENEFACTOR CONTRIBUTES 2 DOLLARS, UP TO OUR CLASS YEAR, = $1968.

AS OF THE CLOSE OF SATURDAY NIGHT'S EVENT, OUR CLASS HAD DONATED $650.  WE CAN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THIS VERY WORTHWHILE EFFORT THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2018.

Even if you didn't make it to the reunion you can donate in your name or a business name to help a student receive a scholarship for college.
Our class donation this year will go to the Walla Walla Public High Schools Scholarship Fund and will be handled by the Blue Mountain Community Foundation. DONATIONS CAN BE be mailed directly to the Blue Mountain Community Foundation, PO Box 603, WALLA WALLA,  WA 99362 Gifts should be noted WWPHS-SF and donors should indicate "Class of 1968" in order to receive proper credit. Donations can also be made electronically through:
bluemountainfoundation.org.

Donations will be accepted through the month of September!
